Lefkimmi is the second largest town of Corfu, 40 km southren of the island. lefkimmi a former municipality on the island of Corfu. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Corfu. Lefkimmis population was in 2011 about 5800. It is one of the most traditional villages of Corfu built lush green surroundings, in the middle of a fertile plain of olive trees and vineyards. The village itself is quite picturesque with narrow streets and, tall houses, lovely squares and beautiful churches. Worth visiting in the town are the superb churches of Agioi Theodoroi and Agios Arsenios which are famous for there fine architecture. Tourism is its main industry along with agriculture and other businesses. It features beaches, restaurants, shops, taverns and hotels. A canal passes through the eastern part of town. The port of Lefkimi serves daily ferries to Igoumenitsa.
